A documentary about female jockeys

Jock Synopsis

The documentary "JOCK" peels back the brightly colored silks and race day pageantry of the Sport of Kings-revealing the ruthless world of thoroughbred horse racing-by telling the story of the female jockeys who waged a gallant fight for the right to ride."JOCK" is a story of sexual harassment, ridicule, life-threatening compromises, and the thrill of victory-told through interviews and archival footage featuring pioneers like; Mary Bacon-the brash beauty who broke over 50 bones, posed nude in Playboy, and was a KKK sympathizer; Robin Smith-the Hollywood starlet turned jockey who rode for Alfred Vanderbilt and later married Fred Astaire; and Diane Crump- who became the first woman to compete against men in the prestigious Kentucky Derby. From race-wining thrills to career-ending spills, "JOCK" is the story of the courageous women who used passion as a weapon in the sexual revolution, and paid a price with their lives.

Just found Donna Hillman Walsh

Jockey Donna Hillman Walsh (first race Oct. 11, 1971 at Belmont) still stays in touch with Tony Passaro, the former jockey and agent who taught her all about racing. He trained her secretly, because he didn't want to be laughed at! According to Passaro, when his friends found out what he was up to, they thought it was, "ridiculous!" Then he says, "She wound up beating 'em all." Today, Donna's an accomplished artist. You can see her work at www.tmfineart.com or hipart.com   Check out her horse pictures...awesome!
