Synopsis
JOCK is a documentary where gender, age and passion collide when eight retired female jockeys saddle up one last time and attempt to go from retirement all the way to the winner’s circle....in a history making horse race.
InnerView Entertainment in association with Ellman Entertainment presents JOCK, a feature length documentary from Director/Producer, Jason Neff, and Emmy Award-winning Producer, Linda Ellman.
JOCK brings a little known chapter of racing history to life in a story-rich documentary
about the first generation of female jockeys who overcame sexual harassment, ridicule and life threatening compromises to wage a gallant fight for the right to ride in the late 60’s and early 70’s. From race-winning thrills to career-ending spills, JOCK is the story of the courageous female athletes like Diane Crump, Barbara Jo Rubin, Mary Bacon, Patti Barton, Robyn Smith, Cheryl White, and a group of others who used passion as a weapon in the sexual revolution, and paid a price with their lives.
As we relive their unforgettable experiences, the early jockeys’ competitive spirit and passion for the sport is put to the test. For the first time ever in history,
on May 14th, 2010 (Preakness weekend) at Pimlico Race Track in Baltimore, Maryland, eight retired female pioneers will embark on an unprecedented journey to cross the finish line one last time. We’ll film those who still think they have what it takes, as they train and try to overcame the aches and pains associated with age and prior spills, just to qualify for the race.
JOCK will follow the successful jockeys’ quest for victory all the way through the dramatic race, to the winner’s circle, and beyond.
